Fly fishing South America
The
fishing season opens on november
the 1st and ends on may
the 1st. As the season beggins in late spring
and early summer the water level of the rivers is high because
of snow melting. Rainbow trouts have finished their spawning ,
feed aggressively taking our nimphs or streamers and offering
fierce battles. You can spend all day fishing without meeting
any other angler, just you and the spectacular scenery of the
Andes. This is one of the most productive periods and offers a
unique opportunity of a tremendous fishing. We use sinking or
sinking tip lines with nimnphs or streamers, sizes 4 to 12. Temperatures
vary between 32º-73º F .
During January and February the volume of water rivers carry gradually
decreases, temperature rises and we fish trouts with sinking as
well as with floating lines, depending on the weather conditions
and the time of the day. These months correspond with July and
August in the Northern Hemisphere. Local anglers use to come fishing
in this period so the fishing pressure increases.
At the end of March and during April (September and October in
the Northern Hemisphere) it is early fall, as water temperatures
of the rivers diminish, trouts become more active and browns start
to move from the lakes into the rivers and streams. It is show
time! You can expect good captures with float as well as with
sinking lines ( trouts over 10 pounds if you are lkucky!). Big
browns are on the move! . Temperatures vary between 32º
and 68ºF.
